Thinking Activity on Mathew Arnold

Matthew Arnold is the person,

who was expecting imprint of teacher in poet.

Q1- Write about one Idea of  Matthew Arnold which you find interesting and relevant in our times.

            Matthew Arnold  said about poetry that "poetry is a criticism of life".

"Criticism of life" it means the noble and profound application of ideas to life.

            laws of poetic truth and poetic beauty, we find in our generations also if any writer writes poem about forest, flowers, and anything related to nature he has to think creative and something special with truth and beauty normally nobody can write poem like as letter or report.

            Science touches to mind of humans where poetry touches to the soul of human with laws of poetic truth and poetic beauty. Whatever you have feel in reality and you write as it is with use of creative words it is called poetic truth. Writer must have to follow truth. It is a duty of poet to give poetic beauty to the readers with poetic truth.

Few lines from I've written after watching videos of LAPREK.

In my opinion I can say that I've used poetic truth in this line because every person he or she tries to look beautiful or handsome in front of his or her love so they always look again and again in mirror.

હવે રોજ આયના સાથે અદાવત થવા લાગી છે,
મસ્ત લાગે છે એટલું કહે ને ત્યાં રાહત થવા લાગી છે...

I've used poetic beauty in this line, it is may personal choice.

એક વાત કહું ?
જેવી મજા બારી પાસે બેસવાની આવેને
એટલી જ મજા મને તારી પાસે બેસવાની આવે...

Q2- Write about one idea of Matthew Arnold which you found out of date and irrelevant in our times.

Update is mostly better…

            He wants to say with “Touchstone method” that, this method introduced scientific objectivity to critical evaluation by providing comparison and analysis as the two primary tools for judging individual poets. He wants to say that to judge any new poet’s poetry we have to use best old poet’s work and we have to compare it with new poet’s work and analyze the new work and if it's have the same quality as old work has then we can consider that new work is good as old.

         

   I am not agree with “Touchstone method” in our times . We can compare work with ancient work but  mostly next generation has better quality of ideas with ancient reading, so if any writer writes anything about present than it may better with new ideology and with new imagination. New and old work both has own quality of writing with present situation.
