' A girl in the river' is a documentary film based on a real story of Pakistani women. How she struggles for freedom of her own choice and how she victimize of honour killing.

            Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has won the academic award for her documentary, 'A Girl in the River.' We know a lot of girls killed every year in the world with various reasons and honor killing is one of them, here Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy portrays the negative but real image of Pakistan. This documentary tells us about the honour killing and poor condition of women in Pakistan.

My Point of view from the literature study :

            I have learned from the literature that most of all writers keep humans in the center with safety not even they take the side of god, so I want to say that they are not going this type of work to become famous and for any medal. They want to change the situation but when they can't that at that time they write and publish openly to give a challenge to others that here people are suffering in these problems so 

is anybody there to help them ??? This question they ask power position people.

            Sometime a few writers want to famous so that’s a way they are taking responsibility to write and publish the things and to question the power position, but still question is that how much time they will be in the side of suffered people.

            In Pakistan, there are a lots of restriction for women's life like education, employment, freedom and many things so here she raised a question for honour killing women. Any Male not did this types of publication but it may be possible that a few good male also supported to her for this publication.

Gerard Genette's "Structuralism and literary criticism"

                Gérard Genette (born 1930) is a French literary theorist, associated in particular with the structuralist movement and such figures as Roland Barthes and Claude Lévi-Strauss, from whom he adopted the concept of bricolage.

         Structuralism is a systematic study of language. In this term, we can studies language from various angles. Structuralism movement first time seen in the work of the anthropologist Claude Levi - Strauss.

        The meaning of the word can be studied from various contexts and which context is appropriate with the situations. What we can interpret more about the word that is calls the Structural study of the literary works.

Let's discuss the structural analysis of two poems through sign, signifier and signified.

Fire and ice

My Love is like to ice, and I to fire:

How comes it then that this her cold so great

Is not dissolved through my so hot desire,

But harder grows the more I her entreat?

            The poem by Edmund Spenser “Ice and fire” is about his beloved. He says that his love is like fire and his beloved is like ice which means that poet’s beloved is ignore the love of poet.

            The paradox is, if fire goes near to the ice than ice should be melt and the heat should be decrease, but that's not happening but both grows on its own way.

            In the poem by Robert Frost “fire and ice” Frost talking about the end of the world that weather it will end on fire or ice then he says that both have ability to destroy world. The fire represents the desire, hate ,emotion.

            As we first see the word like fire and ice, the first thing came in our mind is that fire is something bad and ice is something good but here in this both poem though they both have different theme but then even both poet shows that fire is good and ice is suggest something bad. Edmund Spenser says that his love is like fire but his beloved is like ice who ignore every effort of poet and Frost also compare his passionate desires with fire and hatred with ice.           This term is very difficult to understand and to define because Derrida himself refuses to define the term 'Deconstruction' by saying that All other terms we use in philosophy or literary criticism even deconstruction can't be once and finally define, students and scholars often want something clear cut in define so Derrida becomes very difficult philosopher to read and the term Deconstruction become very difficult to define. Deconstruction is not word and not believe in dictionary meaning as dictionary gives only another word or we can say it decentralized only another word for one word or we can say it decentralized from center.

With the help of reading this column of Raj Gausvami, I agree because there are many people who are doing wrong and spreading superstitions still in the era of science and technology. People should be thinker, not a blind follower.

We are using various characters from mythology in literary art but it should be more for practical understanding or for developments of historical sense but somehow we are making an error to understand.

1) What is Archetypal Criticism? What does the archetypal critic do?

          In literary criticism the term archetype denotes recurrent narratives designs, patterns of action, character-types, themes, and images which are identifiable in a wide variety of works of literature, as well as in myths, dreams, and even social rituals.

          Archetypal critic identifies the mental patterns of myth and rituals, Carl. G. Jung. (1875-1961) who applied the term "archetype"

2) What is Frye trying prove by giving an analogy of ' Physics to Nature' and 'Criticism to Literature'?

          Frye says that physics is an organized body of knowledge about nature. But students say that they are learning physics not nature. All art is the study of Nature and criticism is the study of arts. So Frye says that one can't teach learn literature, but yes one can learn how to criticize.

3) Share your views of Criticism as an organized body of knowledge. Mention the relation of literature with history and philosophy.

          History and Philosophy both are important pillars of Literature. So literature used knowledge of the past by the use of ideas and create literature. For understanding, literature readers must refer to history for events and Philosophy for ideas. Frye has used the word centrifugal, which means to go away from literature and find a background for understanding literature.

4) Briefly explain inductive method with illustration of Shakespeare's Hamlet's Grave Digger's scene.

          In the play  " Hamlet " we find the inductive method during the grave-digging scene. In this method, the process goes with specific to general.

Example from 'Hamlet' is Gravedigging scene where 2 diggers are talking with one another and singing songs during their work of Gravedigging, we can see that they are happy with their work they have neither pain nor grief for dead one so after that we come to know that they are now habituated by their work.

5) Briefly explain deductive method with reference to an analogy to Music, Painting, rhythm and pattern. Give examples of the outcome of deductive method.

          Deductive Method come from general to specific or particular observations. Music through we can understand the rhythm of it whereas in paining we can find patterns or colors, but by listening to some of the lines from the music we are not able to understand everything but by looking at a painting we can get an idea about patterns. Literature seems to be intermediate between music and painting.

            I.A.Richards says a poet writes to communicate, and language is the means of that communication. Language is made of words, and hence a study of words is all important if we have to understand the meaning of a work of art.

          Words carry four kinds of meaning, or to be more precise, the total meaning of a word depends upon four factors. These are

• Feelings

• Tone

• Intention

Misunderstanding

Simple reading of first stanza

          Here we can read simply and understand without meanings of words that Gangasati wants to say that join pearls in thread in flash of thunder, if you will not do with speed and in time than you not able to make necklace and sudden darkness you will feel.

Real meaning of words in stanza

          We all have 24 hours in day and 365 days in one year and we have to do our regular work as well as other important work, which is also important for our development and how we manage all work with our regular work it is important.

          If we compare with our time than all students have to study 5 to 6 hours in department and in college and during this period those who are doing extra activity in free lecture and before schedule of periods only they can make his character different than others with lots of skills.
