"The Great Dictator"
I have always noticed
that artists have raised voice against social, political and different types of
issues and Charlie Chaplin is one of them."The Great Dictator" was
made in 1940. It is a parody of Hitler
and Nazi Germany was released before the United States entered the war. This is
a Charlie Chaplin's first movie with sound and dialogues.
Charlie and Hitler
Charlie Chaplin
is known as "polymath". He was an English comic actor, filmmaker, and
composer. He rose to fame in the era of silent film.
Both had many
similarities in birth date and month, physical appearance, popularity. Both
were different in nature. Hitler is known as a cruel ruler and Chaplin known as a
great comedian.
Charlie
Chaplin played a double role in the movie. He was a soldier and then the role played as a
Dictator.
Comedy
It is very
hard to make a laugh audience and especially when you are talking about political
issues and about dictatorship and here Charlie done a good job. In movie during
the Oakie scenes that we get many of the film's most famous comedy moments.
Politics, dictatorship, and issues…
"The
Great Dictator" movie focused on the situation of the second world war and at that
time Hitler was a ruler in Germany. He was on the highest position. In the film, we can
see how politics and power both played a vital role in the war and it is also the best
example of political satire, how political leaders behave in front of the
public. Social problems
and conditions of Jewish people and different issues we can see in this movie.
"The Great Dictator" is a comic
political satire.
