Write their story in
brief.
Kya kahena
A story about a girl named Priya
(Preity Zinta), a first-year college student, cheerful, brilliant, popular, who
is the apple of her parents' eyes. She defied the Indian culture when she got
pregnant before marriage by Rahul Modi (Saif Ali Khan). Priya's life suddenly gets more complicated than she had ever imagined. Rather to abort her child, she decides to give a birth to the child. Her childhood friend Ajay (Chandrachur
Singh) who is secretly in love with her helps her. The support of her family helps her to overcome the society's hypocritical condemnation and resolve the crisis.
The Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter begins with a
prelude in which an unnamed narrator explains the novel's origin. While working
at the Salem Custom House, the narrator discovered in the attic a manuscript
accompanied by a beautiful scarlet letter "A." After the narrator
lost his job, he decided to develop the story told in the manuscript into a
novel. The Scarlet Letter is that novel.
The novel is set in
seventeenth-century Boston, a city governed by strict Puritan law. The story
begins as Hester Prynne, the novel's protagonist, is led out of a prison
carrying an infant, named Pearl, in her arms. A bright red "A" is
embroidered on her chest. A crowd waits expectantly as Hester is forced to
climb up a scaffold to endure public shame for her sin. While on the scaffold,
Hester is terrified to recognize her estranged husband, Chillingworth, in the
crowd. He recognizes her too, and is shocked. Chillingworth pretends not to
know Hester, and learns her story from a man in the crowd: she was married to an
English scholar who was supposed to follow her to Boston but never showed up.
After two years she fell into sin, committing the adultery that resulted in her
baby and the scarlet "A" on her breast. Chillingworth predicts the
unknown man will be found out, but when the beloved local Reverend Arthur
Dimmesdale commands Hester to reveal the man's name, she refuses and is sent
back to her prison cell. Chillingworth poses as a doctor to get inside the
prison to speak with Hester, and there forces her to promise never to reveal
that he's her husband.
What is the role played
by society in Hester’s life?
We all know that we did a lots of
mistakes and sin in our life but we are not blaming our self in front of all
but when other person declared with any sin or any mistakes we blame him easily
some time society become violent for him. In the scarlet letter Hester also
facing same problem. She has to wear A (adultery) symbol because she gets
pregnant and she did not say who is the father of that child. She has given birth
to her child in prison and lifetime she has to suffer mentally in public place
but she was happy with pearl.
What is the role played
by society in Priya’s life?
Ans-
Priya finds out she is pregnant, she informs
her horrified parents, and they approach Rahul's parents (Navneet Nishan,
Rajeev Verma) for marriage plans, but to everyone's surprise, Rahul turns them
down but Priya chooses to keep the child. Her decision prompts her father to
chuck her out the house. Alone and neglected Priya is devastated, but her
parents and brothers find it hard to live without her and they bring her home.
She now has to face society and try to overcome the disdain of her neighbors,
among others. Society virtually ostracizes her and her family. She eventually
gains the support of those who had earlier disrespected her.
Compare and contrast
the male characters, Roger Chillingworth, Arthur Dimmesdale, Rahul, and Ajay.
-Rahul belongs to rich family and he
was egoistic character
-Arthur was priest and he belongs with
religious background, but he helped Hester.
-Roger is going far from her but when
he returns he was doing force to make relationship with Hester. He becomes
violent also in some scene.
-Ajay is shown childhood friend of Priya,
He is soft hearted, he knows everything about priya's life but he was ready to
marry her and live with priya.
What are the reasons
that Arthur Dimmesdale and Rahul do not come forward to accept their
fatherhood? How do you they differ and what are the similarities?
Rahul is not really interested as he has
many more girlfriends than he can handle. But Priya seems all the more
attractive when her brothers prevent him from seeing her, and so he makes it a
mission to charm her and win her over, which he does.
In the sacarlet letter Arthur Dimmesdale was a priest so he was not
ready to accept fatherhood of that child but we can say he was helping her and
he was giving warmth to child when they were neglected by society.
Rahul was behaving like it was just
like a game and here Arthur has force of religious matter so he not able to
accept fatherhood. Rahul showing ego of richness and Arthur has to follow
Religious things but they both are actually selfish, because they are not
taking his responsibilities.
How do you see Hester
and Priya as individuals?
When Rahul turns them down but Priya chooses
to keep the child. Her decision prompts her father to chuck her out the house.
In the end Priya manages to change
Rahul's views as well and he decides to marry her. However, Priya has already
given her heart to Ajay and they get married.
In the Scarlet letter Hester has to go in prison but she didn't said why
she became pregnant and who is responsible for that. They both have faced rigid
society.
Write a critical note
on the end of the movie and the novel. Why do you think the novelist has not
given happy ending?
Nathanial Hawthorne wants to say
reality of the time and about characters, how they were treating each other in
relationship. If we talk about movie than mostly director direct film as a
purpose of entertain people but some directors likes to stay near the story.
This is my opinion that happy ending
through females and family can satisfy to see movie because we full fill our
ego When we see in the end Arthur, Hester and Pearl stay together. It is also
positive message for society.
Good.To the point and well explained. You need to remove grammatical errors. Try to apply relevant theories to support your arguments. Best of luck.
